Module 2 – Test claims and extend the kernel

Page 3 of 3 · About 15 minutes per lesson, including practice.

Choose the next kernel milestone

15-minute session: read for 3 minutes, trace for 3, experiment for 7, and complete the check for 2. Spend longer whenever you need.

The next foundations are exception handling and bounded boot-memory-map parsing, followed by allocation and protected address spaces. A printed memory-initialized line is not an allocator. Work from fixtures and reserved-region rules before changing hardware mappings. Keep experiments in disposable VMs.

Your experiment

Write one small issue: input format, bounds, malformed cases, expected failure, and proof. Link it to the roadmap without claiming the entire memory subsystem is done.

Practice and evidence

Keep three notes: your prediction, the actual result, and why they match or differ. The completion check grades understanding; the practice task builds skill.
