Make the test catch the defect
15-minute session: read for 3 minutes, trace for 3, experiment for 7, and complete the check for 2. Spend longer whenever you need.
For a bug fix, construct a small failing case before changing the implementation. Test a neighboring valid case too. A test that only copies the implementation’s formula can repeat the same mistake. The message-port backlog includes an independent FIFO reference model.
Your experiment
On a disposable branch, deliberately reverse a FIFO expectation and ensure the test fails. Restore it and explain what requirement the original test checks.
