Explain AI assistance with evidence
15-minute session: read for 3 minutes, trace for 3, experiment for 7, and complete the check for 2. Spend longer whenever you need.
AI can propose code and tests, but the contributor remains responsible for the patch. Check that APIs exist in the linked source, trace state changes, and test boundaries. Record what AI suggested, what you changed, and what you verified. A confident explanation is not a test result.
Your experiment
Take one suggested change and locate every called API in the repository. Write an independent expected result before running it.
Practice and evidence
Keep three notes: your prediction, the actual result, and why they match or differ. The completion check grades understanding; the practice task builds skill.
